The Love Wager

By: Lynn Painter

“I want to spend forever with my favorite human. The person who cracks me up and gets me and likes the way I think.”

Hallie Piper is bartending at a wedding, but she leaves the room of one of the guests by crawling out of the room. She decides that she needs to get things together. She gets a new apartment, a new haircut, and decides to try out a dating app. When she’s on the dating app, she sees Jack, the guy whose room she crawled out of. They decide to make an agreement: whoever finds the one first wins something. They talk about their dates and sometimes schedule them at the same restaurant so that if they are terrible, they can go get tacos after. Hallie’s sister is getting married, so she and Jack decide to be a fake couple for the weekend. Lines are blurred, was this really a good idea to be a fake couple?

This is laugh out loud funny, truly a great rom-com. I loved the joking around that occurred between Jack and Hallie. This is a book written perfectly to be made into a movie. You could feel the sparks between them. The only reason that I couldn’t give this book 5 stars is that it was a tad predictable. This does have the strangers to friends to lovers trope with the third act problem. I do wish there was a tad bit of something different. However, the characters did feel relatable, like they could be anyone that we could come across. I read it in one day, so I would consider this very fast, easy read. I didn’t want to put it down! Anyone who reads and likes rom-coms will enjoy this book. Oh yeah, and there’s some spice that goes along with it!

Go run and get this book here.
