Part Of Your World

“Love follows you. It goes where you go. It doesn’t know about social divides or distance or common sense. It doesn’t even stop when the person you love dies. It does what it wants.”

On her way home from a funeral, Dr. Alexis Montgomery finds her car in a ditch. While waiting for the tow truck, Daniel comes to help her. He leaves her to go on her way. But she needed to stop for something to eat and the only place open was the VFW. Which is also where Daniel happened to be. At 4am the next morning, she was sneaking out to go home. While she continues to sneak away to see him, she knows that it can’t be anything long term. Alexis is part of a very wealthy family that has a legacy, and she is expected to uphold that legacy. Daniel doesn’t fit into that picture. What’s a girl to do?

This was a solid 3.5 stars for me. It’s a cute book, and I thought it was well written. It was easy to read and I didn’t get bogged down in the writing. This is told in the first person point of view of both Alexis and Daniel. I usually LOVE first person point of view because it’s usually less telling and more experiencing. However, the way the author handled these characters and the interactions between these characters was more telling and less experiencing. That ruined it for me. I get it, it’s a total personal preference and I know others have LOVED this book. But I never actually felt any chemistry between the two characters. I don’t know how many times Alexis told us that something was good, but how do we know that if we don’t experience it along side of her? I also wish we had a little bit more interaction between her and her brother, and his new wife. I loved Alexis and Daniel individually, but I never saw them together. This book also touches on different kinds of abuse and does reinforce getting help, getting out, and going to therapy – so that was nice to see. Overall, many people really enjoyed this book, it was just okay for me.
