“I take a sharp breath and look at my fellow travelers with new wariness. Someone in this car is lying.”
Mira is trying to get home to her mother for Christmas. But Mother Nature has other plans. A blizzard cancels her connecting flight at Newark airport. Harper, the girl she sat next on on the plane to Newark, rents a car and offers to drive her and others to where they need to be. But the blizzard is getting worse. Accidents are happening, people are dying, they run out of cash, and some of their items mysteriously go missing. Someone doesn’t want Mira to make it home.
Well, this certainly kept me guessing! This takes place over the course of one day/evening/night. I’m not even sure a full 24 hour period passes. That helped keep the suspense alive because it was like it was happening in real time. Each of the characters were distinct, and it was easy to fall in line with blaming one over another as to the reason bad things were happening. The atmosphere was creepy and I was stressed along with all of the characters. My only issue was that there was a character – a man with a hat – and nothing ever came from it. I didn’t know the purpose of his being in the story. The author could have left that character out and the story would have been the same. Otherwise, this is a great, fast paced, easy to read thriller.
