MY REVIEW
This is my first read by this author, and now I’m a reader for life. This book has my whole heart. A 5 star read! First, Laura is a fantastic character. She is extremely relatable. Many people have had their heart broken and felt like she did – feeling broken, thinking the next person can do better than you, picking yourself to pieces etc… But because of the breakup, she is also a little cynical, which I loved and I could relate to as well. Let me tell you, this couple made my heart flutter. It was really nice to see that both Laura and Dan were nervous at the beginning. We don’t see that too often, usually one is full of confidence, but I liked that the author chose to make not only Laura vulnerable, but make Dan vulnerable as well. The author also didn’t rush the relationship, which we see a lot of in romance books. I really felt the buildup. Furthermore, the author included “thought bubbles” that weren’t really bubbles but the characters’ thoughts in italics. I LOVED this choice! I really like knowing what the characters are thinking – and in this one, it made them real. Lastly, the author chose to incorporate poems/prose and song lyrics. They all have a purpose, but the one I enjoyed the most was the one by Brianna West. This was a FANTASTIC read, and anyone that love a good, clean romance, should read this book!
