“It’s a lie, what they say about time. Doesn’t heal anything. Not love, anyway.”
Wes and Ivy love each other, but their relationship is toxic. They continuously have their ups and downs, and when they are up – it’s really good. When they are down, they are really bad. Now there is a detective involved in their life by reevaluating a cold case wherein someone died and the detective thinks they know more then what they are letting on. They have to stick together to get through this, but can they?
I may be a bit of an outlier here. I was so excited to read this book as I have read Downing’s previous three novels. I didn’t even know what this was about going into it! When I started it, I was enjoying it immensely. But that didn’t last long. The book started to drag and I barely wanted to pick it up to read it. I actually had to force myself as it was a library book and was due soon. I didn’t like any of the characters; I couldn’t root for one. Everyone is annoying, a backstabber, and despicable. There is no suspense and nothing thrilling about this book. It was just…. boring. The ending was equally as bad. We find out that one of the characters was worse than we thought, and we sort of know what happens but nothing is solidified. It was just a huge letdown as I enjoyed her other novels.
