By: Freida McFadden

“After all, there’s nothin that binds two people like a shared secret.”
Freida McFadden outdoes herself in this thrilling, twisty new psychological thriller. In this novel we meet Dawn, an awkward accountant who is obsessed with turtles, and Natalie, a beautiful woman who is the top seller for the company they both work for, Vixed. Dawn follows a routine, so everyday she shows up to work at the same time, has bathroom breaks at the same time, lunch at the same time, and leaves everyday at the same time. Until one morning, Natalie comes into work and Dawn hasn’t arrived yet. Then Dawn’s phone rings, and there’s a creepy message on the other end. Natalie finds herself intertwined with Dawn’s disappearance… and murder?
McFadden takes us on a wild ride in The Coworker. Prepare to get whiplash as once the twists start coming, they don’t let up – up until the very end. The character development was great in this book. You really knew who each of the characters were, very distinct personalities, and each character served a purpose. The writing, as always, is fast paced and easy to read.
We learn in the afterward that McFadden has been working on this book for quite some time, and it really shows. It is plotted well (every detail is thought out), it is written well with the perfect amount of description and background information.
Overall, this wasn’t my absolute favorite from McFadden, but it is coming in a close second!
