Love, Theoretically

By: Ali Hazelwood

“Have you considered that maybe you’re already the way I want you to be? That maybe there are no signals because nothing needs to be changed?”

I promise you won’t stop smiling in this rom-com by Ali Hazelwood. Elsie, a theoretical physicist, doesn’t make much money as an adjunct professor. For money, she also gets hired to be a fake girlfriend for men. But things change when she meets the older brother of her current client. When she learns who he is, she realizes it’s his fault that it’s been so hard for her to find research only work. Jack is an experimental physicist, who seemingly hates theoretical physicists. He is also on the hiring team where Elsie is applying for a job. But he also brings out a side of her where she can just be herself.

There are so many things to love about this book. Elsie’s self discovery into who she really is rather than who she thinks everyone wants her to be is one of the best parts about this book. I loved see her growing into herself, and it goes to show that it can happen no matter your age.

Then there’s the romance, oh the romance. Sparks ignite between these two. Jack is so understanding with her, and encourages her to be her true self. These two characters were meant for each other. There is some “spice” in this book, but it’s very true and honest as to the way things sometimes can happen. Meaning, it’s not perfect. It’s not all fireworks; it’s realistic.

This is the only book I have read by this author, but I will be checking out the others!

If you’re so inclined, you can get this book here.
