None of This is True

By: Lisa Jewell

“A weak man can’t love a strong woman. He won’t know what to do with her.”

Alix Summers is a popular podcast host. Josie is a normal woman. Both spend their 45th birthday at the same pub. They learn that they were born at the same hospital and don’t live too far from each other. Josie convinces Alix to do a podcast about her and Josie tells her life story, which is horrific at times. Then she shows up at Alix’s door saying that her husband beat her. But Alix runs into some other people that tell her that Josie doesn’t tell the real truth no matter what, just her version of the truth that fits for her. So what is real and what did Josie make up?

This will be the last book that I read by this author because I just don’t like her writing style. This book dragged on and on and on and on (like this sentence). The “Big reveal” at the end felt very mediocre. Let’s face it – the title of this book kind of gives everything away – what Josie tells Alix is not the truth. But there may be one secret that she’s hiding for a good reason. By the time they revealed that secret, I was so over this book that I just didn’t care.

Alix was so quick to agree to do a story on Josie and invite her into her home, who does that? And Alix just being okay with the way her husband behaves? I would have kicked his butt to the curb!

All the characters were boring. There was literally nothing redeeming about this book. I know I’m in the minority, but this author is just not for me.

But if you’d like to try this book, you can here.
