Rewrite Our Story

By: Kat Singleton

“You’ll see me again. When it’s time, I’ll meet you in a field of marigolds. Just like the one you were named after.”

I read this one so fast! Marigold always had a thing for her best friend’s older brother, Cade. And when her mother passed away, she spent more time with their family. Finally, Cade noticed her the way she wanted to be noticed. But then she left for college and that was the end of Goldie and Cade. Mare returns to Sutten Mountain for a tragic reason. She finds herself unfortunately around Cade a lot. But the electricity between them never faded. And this time, he won’t let her get away.

There is so much to like about this book, but I also struggled with the book a little as well. Yes, this is a very easy to read, fast paced romance. I really enjoyed the romance between Cade and Mare. I enjoyed the way that the author built up this relationship so that the reader could feel their feelings. How much they loved each other was beautiful.

I also really liked that Cade’s mother took Mare under her wing when Mare’s mother passed away. There were some beautiful moments between the two and honestly, I shed a tear at one of two of those moments.

There were, however, some things that I struggled with. This book was VERY spicy. I don’t have a problem with spicy. What I do have a problem with is that all of the spicy scenes felt repetitive. Every scene was basically the same and it got old fast, to the point that I skipped the last one. Also, with these two so romantic at other times, you’d think that at least one of the times that they were intimate may have been less raunchy. I don’t mind raunchy, but this was overkill.

This book also took the miscommunication and not speaking up trope to a whole other level. After a while, I just wanted to scream at the characters to just say what they mean! Do we experience miscommunication and can we be afraid to voice our feelings in real life? YES! But this felt like it was getting ridiculous.

Overall, I do recommend the book for those that love romance with a lot of spice.
