Murder Your Employer

By: Rupert Holmes

“After all, when the behavior of another person leaves you no choice but to kill them, their murder is simply involuntary suicide.”

Thanks to Roar Reads for picking this as part of their November Reads! In this guide to homicide, students attend McMasters Conservatory where they learn how to murder. But not anyone can attend. They have to have an ethical reason to “delete” someone. While attending the school, they will learn about alibis, different ways to murder, and many other tactics. In this guide, you will follow three of the students that attend the school. You will see them through their education all the way until their final graduation thesis – getting away with the perfect murder. Will all three complete their task?

I had never heard of this book until this book club suggested it, and I’m glad that I read it! This is a refreshing concept! I really liked how this book read, starting out like a manual, getting the stories of the three students, and ending like a manual. There were jaw dropping moments and moments when I thought I knew what was going to happen (but didn’t). Holmes is an absolute genius with how he came up with each other story for the three students that we follow. He was very detailed, and did not miss a beat. Everything was well thought out so that there were no plot holes for the three.

There were parts of it that were slow for me in the middle. As strange as it sounds, it did get a little wordy for me. But I think that’s personal preference more than anything else.

I think this is a very interesting book, and I do highly recommend it.
