“I wanted to live inside my dreams, my wonderful fictious world, and never think about reality if I could help it.
You think you know, but you have no idea. And I don’t even think this book really touches upon everything that has happened to Britney. Britney takes us on a journey through her life – from childhood and how she got started in the business, to her first record deal and album, her breakup with JT, other relationships, to her breakdown, her Las Vegas Residency, the conservatorship, and the end of the same.
While the style of writing isn’t going to win any awards, the writing sounds like Britney. And while I know she didn’t record her own audio for the audiobook, I could hear her saying each and every line in my head.
The one thing I thought throughout this whole book was, “this poor girl.” Really, she’s been emotionally and mentally abused for most of her life by various people in her life. And they were more concerned about themselves then they were about her. It’s really heartbreaking. How could absolutely no one be on her side? How are no one’s eyes open to what was happening to her? Why didn’t anyone care enough? I know that I don’t know her, but I just wanted to give her a hug. I hate that these people ruined her passion for music.
Britney is a force to be reckon with. And while we as a world watched her “fall”, in reality, she was strong and brave. She did what she needed to do as a mom – put her kids first. She had to fight for them, and that meant going along with the conservatorship. It made me happy that her seeing her fans start the #FreeBritney movement really helped her.
I really feel like there is so much missing from this book. Honestly, she was in the conservatorship for 13 years and the book is only like 280 pages. I hope we can hear from her again soon.
