The Serial Killer’s Son

By: Charlotte Stevenson

Many thanks to Love Books Tours and Bloodhound Books for my #gifted copy of this book!

ABOUT THE BOOK

When Monty was a child, he killed his father. His father had been kidnapping and murdering women for years, and forcing Monty to help. Monty survived—physically. He was adopted by a wonderful, caring family and is now a wealthy and successful man. On the outside.

But now, the last of his adoptive family has died. Monty lives alone in his beautiful manor house in rural northern England, and the closest thing he has to a friend is his faithful employee, George.

Monty has tried to live a good life, but his father’s deeds haunt him. And with each passing day he’s finding it more difficult to fight against the blood that runs through his veins . . .

MY REVIEW

This is the first book that I’ve read by this author, and I really thought I knew where this book was going to go, but was utterly surprised when it didn’t go there! I literally said “WTF” out loud because I was so shocked.

While most of the book is told in the present, there are a few chapters that contain flashbacks to the past. It really helps understand the trauma that Monty went through as a child. Stevenson wrote Monty in such a way that I felt really bad for him. And by the end, I felt worse for him.

There wasn’t too much about his father, the serial killer, and I do wish there was a bit more about him. However, I understand why he was a limited character in the book. If you like a slow burn thriller, then this one is for you! I promise, the ending will shock you.
