“You’re the color in a gray day. I don’t know how else to describe it. I look at you, and I see all this passion and joy and fun and excitement. I’ve never met anyone like you.”
I didn’t seem to love this one as much as everyone else. A hurricane hits Merry, Connecticut, flooding the town and destroying homes and buildings. Cat, a reality tv star, had spent some time there fixing up a house for one of Merry’s citizens. So Cat goes back there to film the devastation to prove that a story about fixing this town would make for better TV than a decorating contest. While she’s there, she winds up helping rescue some citizens. The town’s city manager, Noah Yates, is known as Mr. No. He doesn’t want Cat coming to help fix the town and monetize on the hurricane’s victims. He grudgingly agrees because he knows that the government money is going to take a while and the workers they would need would be even longer. Can these two make it through the weeks to get the town ready in time for the Christmas festival?
The concept of this book was really cute. I loved Cat’s attitude and view of life. I enjoyed how Noah went from grumpy to sunshine. The whole cast of characters was wonderful. Noah’s realization of who Cat really was as a person was great. There really were so many positives about the book.
Where the book lost me was how long it was. It felt like the story was dragging on and on. I really got bored at some points and started skimming. I wish there was less of some of the scenes in the book and more about the Christmas festival. Afterall, this is a Christmas book. The town makes a ton of income from their festival so it was important that they have it. The spicy scenes were decent, but the author did tend to somewhat repeat herself.
Overall, it was just okay with me.
