I enjoyed the first book to this series, so when I saw there was a second one, I decided to read it! This picks up where the first book left off. Carly has spent the summer with the boys and family she met, but now she has to go back to school. She tries to keep to herself but her old life crashes into her new one. This not only includes the classmates from school, but it also includes her parents. How is all of this going to work?
So this one was just okay, not as good as the first one. It wasn’t the style of writing, because Robinson’s writing flows very easily and reads quickly. I just didn’t like the story line as much. The first one was full of romance and I wanted to feel more of that romance. This book focused on her life and how she learns to stand up for herself and do what is in her best interest. While that is interesting and I’m proud of Carly for being able to do that, I really wanted to feel more romance!
Once again, the found family was fantastic. More than anything the world, I would love to be in a family where the parents are so accepting. And even if it’s not something the can’t accept, they talk it out without yelling and overreacting.
There is a scene in this book that did make me gasp, it wasn’t a happy scene, but I do enjoy a book that can write a scene or scenes that surprise me.
