You, Again

By: Kate Goldbeck

“Maybe there’s no such thing as soulmates. Maybe there are only people who trust each other enough to begin something without being assured of the end.”

I’m glad I read this one, even though it was over 400 pages! When Ari and Josh meet, they hate each other. Then they run into each other a few years later and they start a friendship. That friendship slowly turns into more, but Ari is a commitment-phobe. After she’s been hurt with a previous relationship, she cannot seem to move on. Josh is down on himself too because a career endeavor didn’t work out the way he had planned. When they cross the line one night, they can’t go back, and Ari doesn’t know how to go forward. So she takes a job out of state and leaves. Will they ever figure it out? Will the timing ever be right?

This was a really cute read. I really enjoyed it. While not in the same exact situation as Ari, and I’m nothing like her really, I do know what it’s like to be hurt from a previous relationship and unable to move on. So I did connect with her in that way. I too acted out a bit and did some stupid things (though, not to Ari’s extent).

Goldbeck took her time with these two. She really built up their friendship, the ease that they had around one another. It was nice to see that the connection wasn’t rushed. This really is a slow burn romance novel.

Was this my favorite book? No. Did I enjoy it? Yes. I did laugh a few times and I did like some of the quotes. I was happy with the ending. So overall, a good read.
