“I won’t give up on you as long as you don’ give up on yourself again.”
I jumped on the bandwagon again! Josephine is Wells Whitaker’s number one fan, but his golf career is in the toilet. Then a hurricane hits Palm Beach, Florida, and the pro shop Josephine’s family owns is destroyed. Wells can’t get her out of his head, and he shows up at the shop. He hires Josephine to be her caddy on the PGA tour, if he can get back on. She helps him bring up his game, and she makes money to rebuild the shop. But something changes between the two of them along the way, and things change about themselves as well. Wells is actually a nice guy, and Josephine can love more than just the proshop.
I enjoyed this book. I enjoyed the premise of the book. I haven’t read a golf romance yet, and if there are any more like this, I’ll be reading them!
The dynamic between Wells and Josephine is one of my favorites. It was witty, flirty, sometimes argumentative, but also raw. Each expressed what was in their head and said what they wanted to say; they didn’t try to make it sound nice. It meant that they communicated, which was nice as the miscommunication trope is quite overdone.
The spice for me was just okay. There was A LOT of it, but it wasn’t the most well written spice that I’ve ever read. That’s okay though, it worked for these characters. I mostly enjoyed the non-spicy scenes between the two of them. The moments when there were real emotions involved.
Overall, a good read. If you like spicy, he falls first, “she’s mine,” sports romance books, then you’ll enjoy this one.
