A book based on Ted Bundy? Sign me up! After terrorizing the North West, The Defendant goes to FL and into a sorority house, ending the lives of two and injuring others. Pamela saw the defendant, but the police don’t believe it’s anyone other than one of the deceased’s ex boyfriends. With the help of Carl, a journalist, and Tina, a friend of another victim, Pamela seeks for the truth around The Defendant.
After reading the synopsis, I put this book on hold at my library. But it’s been months since I was able to get my hands on this book. I forgot the synopsis, so while I was reading it, I thought “this sounds like the Ted Bundy case!” Then I re-read the synopsis and remembered why I wanted to read this book in the first place.
This was SO good. It takes real evidence, and real events, and uses them in a fictional story, so I guess this is kind of like a historical fiction novel. Though, it doesn’t matter where you want to place it. Either way, it’s a must read. And I loved the reference to Zac Efron!
TB was sensationalized. He was the good looking SK. He was charismatic and smart. But this book also shows how average he really was, and spotlights on the victims and the families and friends of the victims. I appreciate that so much since so many of the other books and tv movies focus so much on just him and none of the people that really matter.
As you can see, I loved it. And I think those that like true crime will love it too.
