“Sometimes the best way to show love or be kind to someone is to meet them where they are.”
Justin is cursed – almost every girl he dates finds her “one” after they break up. He posts about it on reddit and Emma, a traveling nurse, sees the reddit and messages Justin. She sort of has the same curse. So they agree to date each other – 4 dates, 1 kiss, and a break up. Emma goes to where Justin is for her next assignment. It was supposed to be a fling, just for the summer. But Amber, Emma’s mom, shows up, and Justin is gaining custody over his siblings. Now they are navigating real life, along with catching feelings, but can they ever work?
I really LOVED this book. It wasn’t your typical romance book where it’s just solely focused on the romance. Emma and Justin had to deal with very real life situations. None of the situations were easy. Emma’s upbringing was not so great and she brought that into her adulthood. Justin had a great upbringing, but when his dad passed away, his life really changed. While I cannot personally relate to their specific situations, the very realness of it all is something we can all relate to.
Justin is amazing. He’s sweet, giving, and really thoughtful. I also really loved his sense of humor and cheesiness! The surveys for the dates, before the date, and AFTER the date? Ugh, I wish my husband had thought to do things like that. There were so many moments I just couldn’t wipe the grin off my face.
Maddie, Emma’s BFF, is really ride or die. She’s an amazing friend. She knows Emma almost better than Emma knows herself. I wish I had a friend like that. Their friendship is so special, and Maddie is one of the best “side characters” I have ever read.
There really is just SO much to love about this book. I’m glad I finally got a chance to read it.
