The Guy Who Dated My Roommate

By: Karly Stratford

This was so sweet! Nanette and David have known each other since college, but after they seemed to have stood each other us, they haven’t spoken. Now they are on Broadway together, David as the lead in a musical, and Nanette part of the orchestra, they are thrown together to make a promotional video for the musical. As they spend time together, they learn more about each other and begin to like each other. But David has a stalker, and that stalker seems to think that Nanette isn’t good enough. That stalker is willing to do anything to embarrass Nanette and show David that she’s using him. But will the stalker win?

OMG, I loved book! I was swooning along with Nanette. I loved that each of these characters didn’t take themselves too seriously; they knew how to have fun and be themselves. I also really loved that this was theatre based – I have yet to read any books that are theatre based. I’m somewhat of a theatre nerd, so this is right up my alley!

I was able to understand Nanette. I could feel her embarrassment and self doubt, I’ve felt those things before about weight too. Always imagining people are talking about or staring because of your weight, expecting to be the butt of jokes.

Is there the third act breakup? Yes, and while it’s not a trope that I love, I really did love the ending.
