“But you – you make love so easy.”
Another great one by Emily Henry! Daphne and Peter we end game. They met on a blustery day where her hat flew away and they fell in love. Peter loved telling that story. Soon they were dating, then they were engaged and planning a wedding. On the night of his bachelor party, he doesn’t come home. The next day he tells Daphne that he’s in love with his childhood friend, Petra. This is where Daphne’s new story begins. She moves in with Petra’s now ex boyfriend, because she needed a place to stay. She had moved to Waning Bay, MI with Peter, and now she doesn’t have any friends or any family. Miles and Daphne mainly avoid each other until they drown in their sorrows together.
I really enjoyed this book. Daphne and Miles were written perfectly. Daphne is a children’s librarian, and while it barely pays enough, she loves her job. Miles is a bartender at a winery. He knows the best places to get the best ingredients. They couldn’t be more different, but their heartbreak brings them together. Their banter was also really fun!
I don’t remember the exact point in the book, but there was a scene where I *thought* I saw what was going to happen and I was ready to roll my eyes. I thought it was going to be a classic miscommunication trope, and after I read the scene I was SO impressed with how the author wrote it! There was no miscommunication trope there. Daphne said exactly what she wanted. It was so nice to read!
Daphne sparks up a friendship with her co-worker Ashleigh and I loved their friendship. Ashleigh had been through a divorce and has a child. she hasn’t had many friends, so she’s ready for ALL the girl talk with Daphne. It’s exactly the friend that I want! I also really loved the relationship between Miles, and his sister Julie. He cares about her SO much, it was so sweet to see.
I could go on and on gushing about this book, but really, just go read it!
