This book is perfect to be made into a movie! Exes Olivia and Chuck are asked to participate in a reality TV show where they are stuck in a house together for a month after their breakup was filmed and sold to a tabloid. But it’s more than just being stuck in the house together. There’s one room, one bed, one bathroom. The dishwasher and the other bathroom are locked until they complete their challenge (if they complete it). The show throws them plenty of curveballs like they can’t touch each other or they lose prize money. But then the show does everything to try to get them to want each other. Will they win the prize money and last 30 days? The only places they can go are inside the house and the backyard.
This was so much fun to read. I know that there are plenty of books about reality TV shows, but this is now probably one of my favorites. The chemistry between Olivia and Chuck was fantastic. But so was their explosive arguments. I fight a lot like Olivia. Oliva is a great character. Born to famous parents, but lost them early on, Olivia has always felt alone. Her birth alone is a scandal and she has tried to stay out of the spot light. Chuck on the other hand was born for the spotlight and he eats it up. But he was fired from his job and he won’t say why.
Chuck tries to get Olivia to see they are perfect together, but Olivia wants to protect her heart. The forced proximity in this book worked well for their relationship because it caused them to talk. They know each other really well, but there are always more things to learn.
There are plenty of funny moments in this book as well. And fantastic side characters. Grandma Ruby is one for the books! She’s so sweet and wise. Manse is also great. The TV show people are just eh and cross lines, but I guess that happens.
I think any rom-com reader will love this book.
