Many thanks to Hambright PR for the gifted copy of this book!
It’s true, this is my first Max Monroe book. I’ll even admit I had never heard of this author duo until this book. I’m SORRY!!! But now I can’t wait to read more (and they have a huge back catalogue) and I can’t wait to read the next in this series!
Finn starts college at Dickerson University with one thing in mind – confronting his father’s child from a family that he’s not supposed to know about. What he doesn’t expect is meeting Ace, Blake, Julia, and Scottie. Ace is his roommate, Julia is Ace’s best friend from childhood, Blake is the star quarterback of the football team, and then there’s Scottie. She’s a cheerleader, and the one that Finn quickly falls for, even though he knows that he’s no good for her. But they can’t stay away from each other, and they can’t stop hurting each other.
I’m not going to lie, technically speaking this is a LONG book, almost 600 pages. However, I did read it in two days. That’s pretty fast for me to read 600 pages when most 300-400 page books takes me about two days to read.
There is SO much to this book – there’s the romance between Finn and Scottie; the friendships that Finn and Scottie form with others; abusive romantic and familial relationships; personal struggles; and just plain college kids being cruel. My favorite storyline was the romantic relationship between Scottie and Finn. Once Finn is able to let go of some of the anger that he was holding onto, he’s open to being vulnerable and open to love; that’s the Finn that grabbed my heart.
I really felt bad for Scottie throughout the book. I can’t say more than that because I don’t want to give anything away, but I felt bad for her. I wanted to tell the authors to leave the poor girl alone!
I think romance readers will enjoy this book!
