The Childminder

By: Hayley Smith

Many thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the ARC of this book!

I really enjoy this author! One dad and four moms form a parent group. Each day of the week, one parent watches all the kids after school until 6pm. All of the parents receive a letter about revealing their darkest secrets. Then they get a text about paying to keep those secrets. While on edge, they all decide to get away for a weekend together. But there is something more sinister happening. The house and that weekend isn’t what they had planned it to be, but it’s something that someone planned it to be.

Smith has written so many layers and pieces into this novel that all nicely fit on top of each other and interlock nicely by the time you reach the end of the book. Part of the mystery is revealed half way, but there is still more mystery and thrills to come. There are reveals from that point until the very end! This is definitely one of those books that will keep you guessing.

I enjoyed all the characters, and the fact that they all had a secret that made them each a little untrustworthy, but there wasn’t anything to make you really dislike them. This, for me, made me want to keep reading. I find it hard when I don’t like the characters.

This isn’t a hardcore thriller book, but maybe a thriller light. Either way, thriller lovers will enjoy it!

It’s out now, so check it out here.
