About the Book
Little Ben’s Life is a fun and entertaining book that is suitable for all readers. It is written in rollicking rhyme which is sure to capture your attention. In the early years Ben overcomes boredom and life’s challenges by using his vivid imagination as a way of escape. While in the later years Ben shares his incredible experience of growing up and living in the Great Pacific Northwest.
My Review
This was such a great children’s book. I read this with my 8 year old son (really, he started reading it to me) and we both enjoyed it! I loved getting lost in Little Ben’s imagination in the beginning. It made me want to be young again and get lost in my own imagination! I don’t find too much time nowadays to do that, always so busy with work and other responsibilities. But I think this section is really great to show kids that with just a little bit of imagination, you can be transported anywhere.
While the whole book basically rhymed, I appreciated the maturity of the rhyme as Ben got older. I think my favorite part was those middle years, especially the section about the Seattle Mariners – that made me laugh! I enjoyed learning more about the Pacific Northwest, I have only been to Seattle briefly, so some things were familiar and some were not. I had never heard of Snoqualmie and looked it up! It’s so fun learning about new and interesting places, especially with my son!
Overall, I think this is a great book for about 3rd grade and up.
