The Boyfriend

By: Freida McFadden

I have seen some great reviews for this book and some not so good ones, but I really enjoyed this book! Sydney has bad luck dating in New York City and she uses a dating app called Cynch. She goes on a terrible date and needs to be saved by a mystery man. Months later, she runs into mystery man again, and he’s perfect for her. Mystery man is a doctor; he’s smart and sweet, a true gentleman. There is a brutal murder of one of Sydney’s friends, and she learns that it’s a serial killer. She starts to notice things about her boyfriend that seem suspicious. Will Sydney be the next victim?

I thought McFadden hit it out of the park with this book! When the book started with the two different points of view in the two different time periods, I was already trying to make the connection of how they were going to come together. And I correctly put that together. However, there were a few major twists that I didn’t see coming at all. Maybe I don’t pick up clues well, or maybe I’m just not that astute, but I am never to pick out the twists that others seem to think are predictable.

I loved the darker storyline in this book, but I have been finding myself starting to read books with a little bit of darker storylines this year. The epilogue was fantastic, I didn’t see that coming either, but I liked it!!! I can’t say more than that because I don’t want to give anything away!!!!

Those that enjoy McFadden’s books will not be disappointed!

This is out now, so hurry and go read it! It’s on KU, so go find it here.
