I love this author, and this was a fresh plot! Two couples decide to do a house swap. The Browns, who live in London, will stay in France at a Chateau that the Lesters own, and the Lesters will stay in London. It seems like the perfect holiday for both families, but both families are hiding a secret. There have been break-ins at the chateau, then the Browns are told that a woman that used to live there disappeared never to be seen again. In London, The Lesters’ son Raf disappears. Now they have to face their demons and the truth will be revealed… someone isn’t coming home.
Both of the locations sounded perfect for each other the couples. The Lesters’ chateau was in the French countryside, and the Browns’ home was in London. So the couples swapped to a house that was the opposite of what they were living in. Of course, I’d love to see the French countryside, but the home that the Browns own also sounds wonderful! I didn’t particularly care for Susan Lester, but I did like Elodie Brown. I’m not sure I can put it into words, but the vibe I got from Susan just wasn’t a good one.
This book is filled with tension, and it’ll keep you turning pages to see how it is all going to play out. I think Rijks ended this book perfectly. It was a very satisfying ending. Rijks has written a lot of books, and I am slowly trying to get through them all. I promise you won’t be disappointed picking up one of her books!
