The Hidden

By: Kiersten Modglin

“That’s what no one tells you – that no matter which path you take, you’ll always wonder if it was right.”

This is a locked room thriller like I have never read before. Sophie wakes up in a room she doesn’t recognize and figures that she drank too much the night before, made a poor decision, and went home with a guy. She has zero recollection of the night before. But she soon discovers that there’s no way out of the place she is in. A man comes to drop off food, but she doesn’t dare eat it for fear it may be poisoned. She tries to figure out what happened the night before but to no avail. Then a familiar person from her past joins her, also locked in. Who is locking them in, and what do they want? Can they make it out of there, and will it be making it out alive?

I’m a fan of Kiersten Modglin’s work, so it should be no surprise that in finishing this book, I’m all caught up in reading every single one of her books! This book is the epitome of a Modglin thriller book. It is fast paced, it keeps you on the edge of your set, it keeps you guessing, and it keeps you turning pages as quickly as possible to find out what is happening and why. This book in particular really gets your heart and your blood pumping. If this were made into a movie, it would definitely be kind of scary. It almost has a Saw feeling behind it a little bit. There were two reveals that I didn’t see coming, and a direction of the book that I didn’t think of – I thought it was going to go in a different way.

I will say, the ending was a little abrupt for me. I was hoping for a little more. I don’t want to give the ending away, but there was a misleading word in there which kind of irked me, LoL. The ending just seemed too easy, I think I just wanted a bit more of a struggle, a bit more of a fight to go along with the rest of the book. Otherwise, this was a fantastic read!

This is out now, so check it out here! For a short amount of time, Kiersten’s books are on Kindle Unlimited, so don’t wait!
