Comfort and Joy

By: Alexa Land

“The world needs people who carry umbrellas, just as much as it needs the ones who dance in the rain.”

I really need to learn to read synopsis before I read books! Jed is on his way to a lodge to see his brother and his “adopted” family for Christmas and gets stuck uphill on a mountain. Dakota tries to pull his truck out of the muck and mud, and can’t. Dakota invites Jed to stay with him until the weather clears and sparks fly. Once the weather clears, they get to the lodge where Jed’s brother is, sparks fly even more. But with very different personalities and lifestyles, this could never be more than a fling.

I will be very honest, MM romance is not really my thing. However, there were definitely parts of this novella that I did enjoy. There was so cute, flirty banter that Land wrote very well. I think the Jed and Dakota as characters were written well. For this novella to only be about 100 pages, I felt both characters had depth. We learn a lot about each of them to really understand who they are and what drives them as a person.

This book is mostly lighthearted. There are a few intimate scenes where I would have preferred closed door – but that’s personal preference. I’m not saying they were written bad, but the MM explicit writing just isn’t for me personally. Please don’t take this preference to read into who I am, I still believe everyone should be able to love who they want, read want they want, be who they want etc..

Anyway, this is a novella that is on Kindle Unlimited. You can check it out here if you’d like!
