Zoe is a single mom who has always loved writing. But after her writer mother told her she wasn’t really good at it, she became an editor. She rents out her childhood home so that she can afford to keep it. Her friend Juno was renting it, but she has a fiancé now and is moving out. Andrew, Juno’s soon to be brother in law, is helping Juno move. Zoe has had a thing for him since she was young. And she’s using him as inspiration for her book. He’s also a baseball player and he has to make a decision to sign another 5 year contract or retire. Then he offers to be her secret book boyfriend so that he can be her muse for writing her book. Two weeks, just the two of them so that she can get her romance book completed. And at the end of that, it’s over… right?
This was a really enjoyable, fast read, spicy romance book. I couldn’t put the book down! Up until the book I read before this one, I feel like the books I were reading were good, but not great. Well between that book and this one, I’ve finally started reading great books again!
My FAVORITE part of this book was Andrew’s awesome way of keeping Zoe’s son Silas in mind. Being with a single mom is not easy. Zoe wanted to make sure that whatever her choices were, she wanted to make sure Silas never felt the way that she did growing up. She never wanted to need anyone else in order to take care of Silas. Andrew recognized how important this was to Zoe, and he took care to make a special effort with Silas. Talking about winning a girls heart!
The chemistry between Zoe and Andrew was great. The banter between them was even better. I do wish we got a see a little more of Andrew’s sweeter side. I don’t mind spicy in a book, but with what we are told about the way that he was feeling about Zoe, I just expected more sweetness along with the spiciness.
I also really loved the supportive girls in Zoe’s life. It’s rare to find genuine girls that really support each other, but the author in this one nailed these friendships/relationships. It all felt so real and genuine. I wanted to be apart of the friend group!
Romance book readers are going to love this one. And while it is apart of a series, it can be read as a standalone!
