It’s Thanksgiving time and Kyra has been working long hours on a merger. Her family is visiting, and she was invited to a gala at a historic mansion by her client. The mansion is on Chappaquiddick, and it’s very remote, cut off from civilization. First one is injured, then there’s one body, then a second, and then a third. Someone is murdering the guests and they are all stuck in this house, away from everything. Who is murdering people, why, and will anyone else be killed?
This is my favorite installment of the Martha’s Vineyard Murders! Ray has really perfected the locked door trope with this book, creating a suspenseful atmosphere that keeps you wanting more. The tension slowly builds and the murders become more surprising. I love Kyra! I love how her mind works and how she is able to sit back and really access the situation. I guess that’s the lawyer in her and in me.
When it comes time to figure out who the killer is, I certainly did not guess. I actually did not have a guess at all. I couldn’t figure it out! That’s one of the aspects of this book that I loved the most! Writing the characters in such a way that I can’t figure it out, not even have a guess, makes me say that Ray is such a talented writer.
I highly recommend this book and all of the Martha’s Vineyard Murder series books! They are great for any thriller/mystery reader.
