Story of My Life

Many thanks to Hambright PR for the ARC of this book!

Hazel is a romance writer, but since her divorce, she hasn’t been able to write. On top of that, she’s being forced to move out of her apartment and now her publisher needs her to write, or she is going to be dropped. After seeing an article, she decides to move to a small town for inspiration. But the house she bought isn’t what she thought it was, and it needs a lot of work. Enter hot, grumpy contractor Cam. She’s using him for research, but that’s all it is… right?

UGH… Can I have a Cam? Please? Just the nickname Trouble got to me, made my heart melt. The witty banter and the chemistry between Hazel and Cam was on fire. I really enjoyed both of these characters.

Zoey is an awesome character, and Hazel’s friend. I also really enjoyed Cam’s brothers. I do wish we got a little more of Pep, Cam’s mom. Usually the moms really make the whole found family thing for me, and I wanted to feel that more in this book.

This book was really long, over 500 pages. I do think it could have been tightened up a bit. There seemed to be pages of nothing happening that really pushed the plot forward, so for me personally, I just wish it was a tad bit edited down.

BUT, as far as romance books go, this is a REALLY good one. I love that it was Cam that seemed to fall first, who seemed to get jealous first. I really loved the scene when Jim showed up! It was a fantastically written scene! The ending was absolutely perfect!!!! One of the best that I have read – super meaningful. So romance readers, get your hands on this book now!
