Mia and Theo meet while Mia is doing a fundraiser. When that’s over Mia thinks she is rid of Theo, but the universe has other plans. Theo thinks Mia is trouble. She’s sarcastic and says what she thinks. She’s also his daughter’s teacher and she has to get all five of her students to earn program spots or her best friend, Lilly, could lose her promotion. At first it’s easy, they hate each other. But the more they are thrown together, the more the tension builds until it reaches a boiling point. But if that cross that line, what will it mean for Mia, for Theo, his daughter Kira, and Lilly?
Ahh this book was perfect!! I wish I didn’t have to work because I would have finished it a lot sooner! This book has everything that you want from a romance, romantic comedy, enemies to lovers book – it’s fun, funny, spicy, with lots of love, caring, attentiveness, swoony moments, and REAL characters facing real life situations and repercussions. This book literally couldn’t be rated anything but 5 stars.
Kira, Theo’s daughter, lost her mother and is now attending this school just for this special program. The author writes Kira exactly how any other teenage girl would be. Shy, yet sassy, with an attitude, and unsure of the world that surrounds her. Theo is still learning to navigate being a parent without another parent to lean on and he’s unsure at times. He knows Kira comes first, but he’s also learning how to put taking care of himself and what he wants into the equation. Mia is this wonderful character that cares SO much about others, even when she shouldn’t.
The tension between Theo and Mia was perfectly written. The banter, the choice of words, the scenes, to the looks, the touches, it was just so amazing. The spice was also well written and it felt well placed in the book. It wasn’t spice for the sake of spice. And when it wasn’t appropriate, it wasn’t there. The adults actually acted like adults!
There was discussion of grief and anxiety, how to work through those, seeing counselors, and helping someone through a panic attack. Those were not main aspects, but it was nice to read as someone who suffers from panic attacks.
Anyway, romance readers, get your hands on this book NOW!!!
