Italy Can Bite Me

By: Melisa Ryun

Many thanks to Happily Booked PR for the ARC of this book!

Katie Crawford is super type A. She needs to be in control all the time, is super organized, and her 10 year plan is carefully planned out in binders, with backup plans. Her fiancé Jared cracks when he wants to postpone their wedding for work and she can’t handle it. She takes off to Italy with her Aunt on a senior tour. The tour guide, Matteo, is anything but senior. He’s sexy and charming. Well, not at first. But as Katie lets her guard down and let’s herself lose control, she opens up to Matteo is many different ways. One problem, Matteo isn’t a relationship guy. He’s closed up in that department. She breaks his walls down too. However, they are opposites, so could it work?

I know this is a romance book, but my absolute favorite part of this book was the setting. I had my honeymoon in Italy, and at some of the locations in the book as we traveled throughout Italy, and so it brought me back to that trip. So when Katie or one of the other tourists was having a fantastic touristy moment, I remembered mine as well. When the book brought up a place that I had gone to, I thought to myself “I’ve been there!” So the setting for me really helped make this book.

I enjoyed the banter between Katie and Matteo, especially at the beginning when she really did have a distaste for him. I also loved their sweet and vulnerable moments. There was a moment in the book towards the end at the winery where my heart lurched due to the emotions between the two of them.

There are definitely some spicy scenes in this book. They are absolutely fitting, but I’ve honestly just read better. The good news is that it doesn’t take away from the rest of the book!

The tourists, the seniors, were outrageously funny!! I hope when I’m their age I don’t care as much as they didn’t care! Overall, a really good rom-com book!
