Many thanks to Grey’s Promos for the ARC of this book!
Dylan and her brother were in another new place at another new school. They figured if they stuck it out until graduation, then they could make it out of the town. Then Dylan meets Brooks. He breaks down her defenses and tells her that he promises he’ll always be there for her. Until he isn’t. Dylan ran from Rockport and Oregon. Now it’s 10 years later and she hasn’t seen or talked to Brooks since. She randomly runs into him and then finds herself going to her high school reunion. She hopes more than anything that this trip will bring her closure so she can move forward with her life. But old feelings resurface and truths are revealed.
This book blew me away and the fact that this is a debut book blows me away even more! This is one of those books that takes you through a roller coaster of emotions. It will break your heart and put it back together, and I am here for it. I also love that I read two books like that nearly back to back.
The chemistry between Dylan and Brooks was off the charts. I could feel the pull that they had for each other throughout the entire book. This is told in a dual time line between the present and then from when Dylan first arrived into town to when she left. It brings you insight into why she is feeling the way that she feels, and it also provides some answers.
It’s absolutely possible to read this book in one sitting, though I had to work. But I was thinking about this book while I wasn’t reading it and couldn’t wait to get back to it. This is certainly a must read!
