Rocco Vittori gets a great opportunity when he is signed with the F1 racing team Maverick. He’s a champion, but hasn’t been doing great the last few years. He didn’t know if he’d get signed. What he didn’t expect was Nico, the one he’s been sparring with online, would also be on his team. She came up to F1 from F3. She’s got one shot to prove she’s supposed to be there, and Rocco is intent on making that hard for her. The more they fight, the worse they do on the track. So they call a truce and a spark ignites in them that is quite different. But can it last and will that help them on the track?
I really wanted to fall in love with this book. I was looking forward to reading it so much! I love racing romances! Unfortunately for me, it fell a little short. It’s hard to connect with characters when they are both told in the third person point of view. It’s harder to feel like you’re getting in their head. So I always felt a little disconnected from the characters.
The book itself was only 328 pages, but unfortunately it felt like a lot longer than that. It felt very drawn out. It was a major slow burn for me and it’s just not something that I enjoy. There were so many scenes that could have been cut. The actual “romance’ part between these two didn’t last very long. I didn’t feel the connection between the two.
I did LOVE Rocco’s family – they were fantastic! I also really like Celeste and Dario, they were great side characters. So was Charles and Templeton as well!
So if you like 3rd person, slow burn romance, then pick this one up because it’s for you!
