The Secret Stalker

By: Jayde Collins

Many thanks to the author for the ARC of this book!

Rosemarie Chambers is an actress in Hollywood. After the premier of her newest movie, she receives a note what she thinks is a fan. In reality, this person is her stalker. She then gets a bodyguard, Vance, to help keep her safe. But she keeps receiving messages. They are watching her, no matter where she is. They seem to know her every move. As she and Vance proceed forward to try to find out who the stalker is, her sister, Clara, goes missing. Rosemarie is questioning who she can trust, including Vance. Who is behind the threats, the notes, and where is her sister?

I enjoyed this novel! It’s full of mystery and suspense. Yes, I had to suspend belief a bit and overlook some things, but the general premise of the novel was enjoyable. As I was reading, I was trying to figure out who the stalker was. I was WRONG as to who the stalker was, but I was right as to one person. That’s all I’m going to say so that I don’t give anything away.

I’ve looked at other reviews and I just want to say this: this is an ARC – we know as ARC readers that there may be grammatical errors, syntax errors, and the like. I honestly only noticed a few errors, BUT being that it is an ARC, I don’t let that effect my rating/review of a book. That being said, there were a few things about the book that I could have done without. This includes Vance saying that he’s here to protect Rosemarie what felt to be 100 times, and Clara irresponsibly diagnosing a young child with a behavioral diagnosis rather quickly.

The beginning of the book does give trigger warnings – I personally didn’t feel anything triggering in this book, but I am glad there are warnings there. However, this is not the darkest thriller that I’ve read. This reads more like a popcorn thriller. That doesn’t mean it’s not enjoyable though, because it really is!!

The paperback version is out now, so check it out!
