The Echo of Revenge

By: Jesse Palmer

Many thanks to the author for the gifted copy of this book!

Samantha Lee and Ben Wallace meet in an LSAT class when she’s studying to take the test to get into law school and he was teaching the class. They form an easy friendship, talk about test questions, and then have lunches and coffee. She goes over to his house for dinner one night and that night everything changes.. for the both of them. It’s a night that results in them being in a decade long legal battle.

Jesse Palmer writes a wonderful debut legal thriller. What makes this one so wonderful is that she went to law school herself, so she uses her knowledge of that process and the legal system in this book.

The book opens in such a way that it draws you in immediately – the opening scenes make it so that you want to keep reading the book. We proceed to get to know the characters. Samantha Lee is a character that you want to sympathize with. She perceives the event one way and Ben perceives it another way. Either way, to each person, it’s their truth. This book shows us the importance that people bring different experiences to things, and that those experiences will shape not only who we are, but also how we experience things in the future.

Unfortunately for Samantha, she focuses a lot on revenge, and Ben does as well to a point, even though he just thinks he’s defending himself. Honestly, this whole situation is a very rough one to be in. Also, this book explores how simply putting one blog on the internet can blow up someone’s life.

This was a really good read, and I love a great legal thriller. I’m so glad that I got a chance to read this book. This author’s writing style is easy to read, and this book read really quick. Check this one out!
