Many thanks to Zooloo’s Book Tours for the ARC of this book and the stop on the book tour!
About the Book
I killed a man. Maybe he deserved it.
I served my time.
But someone out there thinks I didn’t pay enough.
Now I’m back in Mendex, Wyoming. The town that remembers everything. The town that hates me.
I keep my head down. I go to work. I go to AA. I don’t ask for forgiveness. Especially not from Mikey — my ex.
But then Mikey shows up again. So does a stranger with green eyes and a story that doesn’t quite add up.
And just when I think I might be okay — might almost be free — someone starts watching me.
Not across the room.
Not from a parked car.
From outside my bathroom window.
They know what I did.
They know things I never told anyone.
And now, blonde women — women who look like me — are disappearing.
I thought I left the nightmare behind me.
I didn’t.
My Review
OH My Gosh!!! This book is mind bending. I couldn’t believe what I had read, and so much of it I didn’t see coming AT ALL! Wennerberg has written a suspenseful, fast paced, knock you out, intense thriller and I was here for every word of it. It’s one of the best thrillers I’ve ever read. It didn’t try too hard at all.
The first twist got me, and then I wanted to kind of knock myself in the head that I didn’t see that one coming. But I kept reading, thinking I knew what was going to happen. Wennerberg set it up that way. But then things went a completely different way. There were many layers to this story which is why the outcome changed. The way that the layers were created and how they all came out were so skillfully written.
Throughout this whole book, I felt uneasy. I didn’t exactly know how it was going to end, but the way that it did end? I didn’t see it coming. I also don’t know how I feel about the ending. It let me wondering a little bit… I feel like it was a little open ended, and it has me asking questions. I would totally ask the author these questions, especially if there may be an extended epilogue coming, or a novella coming to see how it’s going to ultimately end, or are we going to be left wondering. I also had mixed feelings about Max’s feelings! Ultimately, I understood her, I think!
Either way it doesn’t matter how I felt about her feelings! This book was absolutely amazing. I will be shouting it from the rafters that thriller book readers and thriller book lovers need to read this book. It was SOO good! I couldn’t believe what I had just read, and I’m SO glad that I read this book. Now I can’t read to read more by this author! So please, do yourself a favor and check out this book! It’s a 5 star in my book!
