Since her mother’s death, Katie Winslow has kind of kept to herself. Her best friend, Jade, lives next door to her, and she has her job, science. Most of her life is either spent in her lab or in her apartment. Walking home one day, she crashes into Nathan Jackson, a blast from the past. Once upon a time they went to school together and now he’s a famous F1 driver. And he has a broken heart; his ex-girlfriend is marrying his brother and he has to attend. His solution to dealing with it is a fake relationship with Katie. Though, it doesn’t go as seamlessly as planned between catching feelings, jealous exes, not really fitting in, and feeling scared.
This was a really sweet Christmas Rom-Com, and I loved that one of my favorite movies got mentioned in here – While You Were Sleeping. I always love a good he falls first, and this one was written so well. Not that Katie didn’t fall but because she was a little more scared to fall and had her walls up. The connection between Katie and Nathan was really sweet and really cozy. It was the perfect read for me right now.
While this is the second book in the Off The Grid series, this can absolutely be read as a standalone. You won’t feel like you’ve missed out or don’t understand anything happening in this book without reading the first one. BUT… having read the first book, I would HIGHLY recommend it just because it’s so good and swoon worthy.
I think the best part about Nathan for me is that he really cared about the little things when it came to Katie. He was really thoughtful, and ultimately it was the little things that really solidified it for her as well. They were a great couple!!!
This is a closed door romance, so if you’re looking for a sweet, cozy romance book, definitely check this one out!
