Many thanks to the author for the gifted ARC of this book!
Blair Cunningham left town in a hurry – she was chasing her dreams, but she was also running from a secret that has destroyed her. Now she’s back helping her friend, Madison, through a difficult pregnancy. When she visits the local bar, the last person she expected to see behind the bar was Greyson, her first crush. They slowly start spending time together and their feelings start to grow. Then Blair’s past comes back to haunt her, and not only can it possibly destroy her, but it can destroy her relationship with Greyson.
This was a sweet novella. It hinges on a second chance romance when Blair comes back to town. I really enjoyed Greyson and Blair together, especially how much Greyson supports Blair and stands up for her. I think that was my favorite part of this book. Those are definitely swoon worthy moments.
This is a debut novel for this author. It is enjoyable, but I do wish that there was some more of a build up between the characters. I wish that we got some of the history between them so that we felt their connection more.
That being said, there is an aspect of trauma that is dealt with in this book, and I think that this is handled really well. There is sensitivity to the topic, but also strength for the character. That was the best part about the situation – the reclaiming of the story, the strength that was finally found.
This is out now, so if you’re looking for a sweet, cozy read, check this one out!
