The Fake Santa Apology Tour

By: Julie Olivia

Birdie Mae only does short term relationships, at Christmastime, to guys who dress up at Santa as part time jobs. After the holiday, and sometimes right before, she breaks up with them. She’s also an author who write smutty romance books that feature Santas. For her inspiration this year, she goes to St. Rudolph, a Christmas town out of a Hallmark movie. It’s there she runs in to Nic, someone she met briefly 20 years ago when she was 11 and he was 18 who helped her sneak a letter into Santa’s pocket. Though, she believes he cursed her when he told her that one day she’ll hate Christmas. 20 years later though, he’s kind of hot.. and he kind of looks like Santa. Birdie Mae wants to get out of town, but of course, the best laid plans…

So this is a cute, fast read. I really liked the concept of the book, but I do wish it were fleshed out a little more. It felt a little too insta-lust/insta-love for me personally. I would have loved a little more description about the town so that I could really try to imagine it. I would have loved to have more interactions between Nic and Birdie Mae doing different activities around the town so that I could feel their connection more. I mean, and 18 and 11 year old didn’t having a brief encounter, especially at that age, doesn’t really make for a romantic connection.

There is a lot of witty and cute banter between the two, so that I really enjoyed. There was some spice to this, but I didn’t find it to be that great. Once we learn a little bit of Nic’s backstory, I did feel bad for him. I really enjoyed the ending because of that, it really was perfect.

This is out on Kindle Unlimited, so check it out!
