Callie Sinclair experienced a horrible tragedy, she was left with psychic abilities; she was able to communicate with ghosts. When she is contacted by Alice, an elderly woman has a lost her husband and is experiencing haunts in her home, she agrees to see if she can help. Once she steps foot on Hillwood Farm, the haunts begin to get worse, and follow Callie to her apartment. Open drawers, broken mirrors, choking, and more. Luke, Alice’s grandson, thinks Callie is a scam… at first. While he doesn’t want to be in a relationship, he gravitates towards Callie as he sees that all she wants to do is help. As they are drawn closer together, the hauntings get worse.
This is a really enjoyable read, especially for someone like me who doesn’t do well with scary. It’s creepy and atmospheric without being so scary that I can’t sleep at night! I think the scenes that got me the most were the ones that had Callie by herself in her apartment.
I also really enjoyed the fact that we got to know these characters in the book. Callie was really sweet, and I loved Alice! Luke was rightfully suspicious at first, but he warmed to Callie. Taking things slow at first felt right for them. Then all of a sudden they were saying I love you and I was like “WHAT!?” That’s the only thing that I didn’t like about the book. Otherwise, I enjoyed it immensely.
This is out now, so check it out!
