Highest Point

Many thanks to Valentine PR for the ARC of this book!

After Finn’s accident while climbing with Alec, Alec goes back to Alaska to fix up his cabin in order for Finn to recover. There he meets Clementine, who is visiting her grandmother in Alaska after not getting a promotion and being in debt. When Clementine finds out that she can win $20,000 in a wilderness competition, she convinces Alec to be her partner and in return she’ll help decorate the cabin. As they spend time together training, Alec tries to keep his walls up. Clementine is a force of nature; she calls Alec on his stuff and doesn’t quit. Can she get him to put his walls down and let her in?

This is the third book in the Hastings series. It’s an interconnected standalone and you don’t need to read the first two in order to read this one (though, they are AMAZING so you should read them!). I loved this book. It gave me ALL the feels, and I do mean all. There were times that I was laughing, there were times that I was falling in love, and there were times that I was crying.

The chemistry, the angst, the magnetism that Alec and Clementine had was perfect. Nothing felt rushed and I really felt like the authors took their time building things up between these two. Alec is a strong character, he’s emotional without showing it at first, and is also really vulnerable. Clementine is hard on herself, but she’s the type of person that everyone wants to be friends with. She’s fun and witty. She pulls Alec out of whatever head space that he is in. He cares about Clementine and it shows. He really is very sweet.

Now, my other favorite character in this book is Gran, Clementines grandmother. She’s a firecracker! I love older characters that have a I don’t give a …. attitude and just say and and do whatever they want. That is Gran, and she is HILARIOUS!!!! She has no filter, and it’s so much fun.

Romance readers are going to love this book!
