Pastries and Pints

By: Allie Winters

Many thanks to the author for the ARC of this book!

Sydney is the chaotic middle child in her family, the one that doesn’t seem serious. So when her family’s bakery is chosen as part of a small business initiative to team up with another small business to put on an event, she didn’t expect to be paired with Pierce, the brooding new guy in town that has just renovated the bar. Pierce is still trying to figure out his life. He was supposed to renovate the bar and sell it; now, he kind of likes working there. As the two pair up, there is some animosity between them. Then Sydney softens when she learns more about him. Soon, their attraction is obvious. But Pierce is from a different lifestyle, and his family wants him anywhere but there.

This was such a cute romance novel! It’s the second book in the series, but you don’t need to read the first one in order to read this one. I loved the time the author took for these two to finally give into each other. It built up the chemistry and tension nicely. Sydney is quick witted and sassy, which made the banter between these two so much fun! Pierce is a typical grumpy, brooding character at first. Once he opens up and lets Sydney in, we get to see a different side of him.

There is so much yummy goodness described in this book as well. Sydney is the creative sister, pairing combinations in her baked goods that make your mouth melt. I wish the bakery was real so that I could check it out!

This book does have some spice in it, but it makes sense for the characters and it’s not overdone. It was well done.

If you haven’t read the first book, I do suggest you read it just because it’s equally as good. Either way, this book is perfect for romance readers!
