A bank manager is brutally killed. Detective Del Stringer is getting older, and he’s been demoted due to some incidences. During this investigation he has to answer to someone else now. But he’s determined to get his reputation back. Then there is another victim brutally killed. A connection is found between Del and a victim and now he’s under scrutiny. As Del continues to investigate, the evidence leads to a surprising yet known monster, and now Del has to fight for his life, and the life of another potential victim.
The premise of this book sounded really good, so I grabbed this book to read. I’ll say this, it’s a good book once you get past the first few chapters. I had no idea who could be behind the killings, I didn’t even have a guess because there was just no one that I thought it could be! That’s the makings of a good thriller/police procedural.
Unfortunately, the roughness of the language in the first few chapters really bothered me. It wasn’t the cursing, that doesn’t bother me. It was using the D word (a slang word that describes a lesbian woman) to describe a person. The who tone and language of the book shifted after those chapters. It was like they were written by two different people. If those first chapters could be edited, then I would have given this book 4 stars.
It’s on Kindle Unlimited so check it out!
