Kennedy is a recovering addict – pills, booze, whatever it was. Now she is in a new country and her neighbor, Silas, either watches a lot of adult films, or is with a different girl every night. And Kennedy can hear EVERYTHING. Silas is a former actor and now a radio personality… and he’s going blind, using women to push down his feelings about what is actually happening to him. When they bump into each in the elevator it doesn’t go well. But he sees something in Kennedy that he likes. Maybe it’s because they aren’t so different in some ways.
I really thoroughly enjoyed this book. It’s funny, it’s witty, it’s sexy, but it’s also honest. I haven’t read a book before (at least that I can remember) with blind representation. I don’t know if this author has any experience with someone that is blind, or just did research, but I feel like Kingston nailed Silas’ feelings about going blind. I really appreciated this disability representation. Kingston also did a really great job with Kennedy as well. We know enough about her backstory without needing to go pages upon pages into her background.
There were moments that I really laughed out loud reading this. The banter and the wit was fantastic. I loved that Silas’ really enjoyed Kennedy being quick witted and outspoken. But this wasn’t necessarily ALL the time. They each “edited” and kept some details back. They had to learn to trust each other, as their pasts caused them both to be weary. One of the aspects that I LOVED about these characters, is that they connected over music. The chemistry between these two was en fuego! The steam basically radiated off the pages.
If you haven’t read this book, I highly recommend it to those that like to read romance and/or spicy romance!
