Gone Before Goodbye

By: Harlan Coben and Reese Witherspoon

Maggie McCabe was living the good life – she was an army combat surgeon with great medical skill, and opened her own charity with her husband and her friend. That is until her medical license was revoked. Now she and her sister are swimming in debt. An old colleague reaches out and offers her a lifeline – private clients that was surgery without anyone knowing. And it’s a big payday. After being flown halfway around the world, she performs two surgeries, but then one of the patients goes missing. She runs for her life and begins to uncover a twisted web that involved her business, husband, and friend.

I’ll be honest, I read this book based on all the hype. I didn’t read the synopsis so I had NO idea what this book was about when I started to read it. This is one book that lives up to the hype! I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I love a good medical thriller and this one did not disappoint. I was kept on the edge of my seat, held in suspense. I was trying to piece together the pieces of the puzzle, but I was unable to. These authors artfully wrote this multilayer story in which each layer had to be peeled back.

I rooted for Maggie the entire time. I wanted her to live and find out what was going on. Besides Maggie, Porkchop was another character that stood out. I loved who he was to Maggie and how much he loved and cared about her as if she was his own daughter. He always had her back, and showed up when needed.

As you can see, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I would highly recommend it for anyone that enjoys suspenseful thrillers that keep you guessing.
