About the Book

A mystery shaped by an impossible death and a time-altering machine sets the tone for IN THE BLINK OF AN EYE by @blumyo, where uncertainty surrounds every moment.

A sealed study. A dead scientist. And a time machine that raises more questions than it answers. When Professor Yonatan Brand is found inside his locked room, the case falls to two unlikely investigators: Benjamin “Bunker” Kronovic, a former actor struggling to rebuild his life, and Abigail Canaani, a quiet librarian whose careful approach becomes essential. Their search leads through Brand’s circle of childhood friends and a lifetime of secrets, revealing a puzzle shaped by shifting timelines and uncertain motives. As they move deeper into the mystery, they confront the possibility that the crime itself may depend on when events occurred—not just how.

My Review

If you like time travel books, this this is the book for you! The professor is dead, but who did it, how, and why? That’s the answers the detective seek to find. We follow them from their learning that the professor has died, through their investigation, to the end. In between, we get to see various interactions between the professor and his circle of friends.

It was a great way to get to know these characters, and whatever possible motives that the could have – everyone is a suspect, right? Abigail and Bunker, even though new to murder investigations, weren’t over the top, but did a really great job investigating.

I did NOT expect the book to end when it did. I was genuinely shocked to learn what had actually happened. The thought never even crossed my mind. It was a great ending.

This is out now, so go check it out!

About the Author

Yoav Blum writes speculative fiction that blends big ideas with mystery, tension, and thoughtful exploration of human nature. His novels often center on extraordinary situations—time travel, consciousness shifts, or the unseen patterns shaping coincidence—and use these elements to examine identity, fate, and the delicate line between choice and inevitability. With a style that mixes suspense, introspection, and subtle philosophical depth, his stories invite readers to question how much of life is shaped by intention versus circumstance.
