The Xmas Day Butcher

By: Spencer Guerrero

“Remember what you’ve done. There’s nowhere for you to run.”

Lenny Frost’s wife, Angela, has gone missing. It feels reminiscent of a girl named Clara who went missing last year around Christmas time. Lenny receives a clue that tells him to play the kidnappers game to find out who he is, and if he doesn’t play this game, Angela will die. As Lenny plays this psychological game, he learns more about himself and those surrounding him and all of their secrets. As the days countdown, he’s doing things he never though he’d do in order to save Angela. But who could the kidnapper be? Who is playing this game with him? Will he be able to save Angela?

A group of us have been reading advent reads since October, and this is the one that we chose for December. This is by far my favorite advent read yet! Guerrero takes the time to build up the suspense in each of the chapters and throughout the book. I had so many theories swirling through my head as to who The Xmas Day Butcher could be, but never in any of those thoughts did I think it was who it turned out to be!!!! I mean, it was a shock!

As this is an advent read, you’re supposed to read one chapter per day. I couldn’t do it. I had to know how it was going to end. And at just around 200 pages, with writing that is easy to read, I flew through the book and finished it in less than 24 hours.

If you’re looking for a fast past thriller, check this one out!
