I’m not sure why I put off reading this book for this long, but I’m SO glad that I read it! Lucie stone is a single mom to Maya. She hasn’t had a boyfriend or been in love for Maya’s entire life – 12 years. Maya calls into the local radio station’s romance hotline, hosted by Aiden Valentine. Aiden doesn’t believe in love. But when Maya and her mother speak to Aiden on air, the clip goes viral. Lucie has now been asked to join Aiden in the booth during this show and try to find her perfect match through the show. She goes on some dates, but they don’t go too well. Sparks start flying between Lucie and Aiden, but he doesn’t think he’s right for her because he doesn’t want the same things.
UGH this book had my heart in a vice hold almost throughout the entire thing. I say almost because it takes 80-ish pages for the setup, and I think that could have been done in a shorter amount of time. However, I still think this is a 5 star read.
There’s an instant something there the first time that Lucie and Aiden talk. What really does it for me, however, is that Lucie is so comfortable around Aiden eventually. The chemistry between the two of them is amazing. It also just feels really easy, like neither of them are trying too hard to impress the other. And their banter is SUPER funny!! I started laughing reading this book when he made some innuendos regarding the dentist! (IYKYK).
A lot of romance books have the characters sexualize each other pretty quickly. And yes, both Aiden and Lucie did state that to themselves that they thought the other was attractive. However, that wasn’t the focus of the attraction like in other books. It was the little things that they liked about each other. It was the way that they thought about each other. It was really just … Perfect.
So if you haven’t read this one yet, don’t wait any longer. Get your hands on this book and enjoy!
